PURPOSE

Ensures that company financial statements are in line with Moxtek's requirements and industry standards. Working under the direction of the Manager of Accounting, the Accountant prepares financial statements that meet standard accounting principles as well as state and federal regulations. Supports plant management in cost, pricing, inventory control, production variances, standard costs, and capital spending. They will also back up other functions in the Accounting department.

 DESCRIPTION

The Accountant has the task of making sure there are no errors on the company's balance sheet or on the statements of profit and loss, cash flows or retained earnings.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in reviewing standard and actual costs and variances on a monthly basis.
  2. Identify and research trends in material and labor costs and expenses.
  3. Oversees monitors and works to improve accounting procedures, and internal controls.
  4. Performs audits to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards.
  5. Preparation of monthly journal entries.
  6. Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
  7. Reconcile G/L accounts.
  8. Ensures compliance with all internal controls.
  9. Assists Manager of Accounting with a variety of tasks as needed.
  10. Reviews monthly closing processes to prevent errors.
  11. Handles special projects as requested by management.
  12. Helps with the preparation/completion of the yearly audit.
  13. Assists in safeguarding the assets.
  14. Prepares sales and use tax filings.
  15. Maintains capital assets and records.

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Has a working knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting standards.
  2. Displays significant knowledge of manufacturing accounting and possesses exceptional accounting skills.
  3. Analytical skills strong desire to understand what is behind the numbers.
  4. Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.
  5. Demonstrates significant knowledge of financial software programs and their interface within the manufacturing environment.
  6. Possesses exceptional organizational skills and is an effective time manager and multi-tasker.
  7. Displays the ability to pay close attention to detail.
  8. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 Education and Experience

  1.  Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  2. Experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
  3. Experience using an ERP in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
