Job Summary:

This position is a member of the Optics Post Fab & Assembly Engineering Team, supporting the effort to manufacture optical components used for the Moxtek product line. The Engineering Technician will be required to work directly with Process Engineers to sustain manufacturing operations, and will perform glass part cutting, inspection, optical performance measurement, packaging, and shipping.                                        

Essential Functions:

  1. Support Post Fab Production with day-to-day issues, troubleshooting and sustaining needs.
  2. Aid in the design, development and testing of new assemblies.
  3. Write and maintain Post Fab operating procedures and related documents.
  4. Ensure that Post Fab production understands customer requirements for standard and non-standard orders.
  5. Interface between Engineering and Production to verify orders are completed accurately.
  6. Design, carry out and document experiments per Moxtek standards.
  7. Determine best practices for assembly procedures and provide feedback to engineering for improvements.
  8. Write clear and informative project status passdowns.
  9. Aid with implementation and maintenance of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  10. Other Duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
1. High School diploma required. AS or BS degree in engineering or science field preferred
2. 1+ years working in a manufacturing or engineering environment
3. Experience working with optical assemblies a plus
4. Experience working in clean room a plus

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.
1. General mathematical skills including knowledge of Algebra and Statistics
2. Clear communication, written and oral, to technical and non-technical audience.
3. Takes direction as required.
4. Is a self-starter, requiring minimal direction after task is clearly understood.
5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc...)
6. Ability to read and correctly interpret production drawings
7. Suggesting new approaches, applications, or areas of pursuit is a plus.
8. Technical writing skills
