Job Summary:

This person will be a key role player in developing applications targeted for metrology and manufacturing tools. This person will be part of the Automation Tool Group to develop, specify and integrate hardware into the overall scope of a project.

Essential Functions:

  1. Working with Project Engineers in Specifying and implementing PLC hardware components. Such as Omron, BECKHOFF, National Instruments, Keyence, COGNEX, AB products or equivalent.
  2. Be able to give predictability and planning for code development with milestones in achieving software objectives.
  3. Create automation PLC controls.
  4. Strong software programming proficiency in:
    1. C# and SQL database applications. PLCs/PACs and SQL Database Management would be a plus.
    2. TwinCat 2 or 3.
    3. LabVIEW programming.
  5. Testing and debug of Embedded PC systems and controls.
  6. Development and implementation of HMI/GUI applications in C#
  7. Assist in wiring and system design of automation controls.
    1. Electrical Drawing Schematics development using SolidWorks Electrical.
  8. General Engineering skills.
  9. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience: 

  1. BS or MS in Electrical/Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
  2. 5+ Years Automation/Controls Design Experience.
  3. Prefer 2+ years with Beckhoff Control Systems or PLCs or equivalent.
  4. Prefer 3+ years with C# and SQL database applications.


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position. 

  1. Ability to communicate and listen effectively
  2. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in written form in English
  3. IEC 61131-3 Programming preferred
  4. Experience with articulated 6 Axis, Cylindrical, SCARA or Delta-Spider Robotics preferred.
  5. Experience with Optics and Metrology Tool design preferred.
