Job Summary: Creates accurate models for analysis based on requests from internal/external sources. Works and collaborates on the core designs/features/functionalities of both products that Moxtek produces for consumer use and the associated equipment for internal/external use. Works in cross-functional teams, and leads those teams as required. Proficiency with a wide range of programs such as ANSYS, COMSOL, CST, SolidWorks, MSOffice, MasterControl, etc., is essential to accomplishing objectives and communicating results.

Essential Functions:

  1. Execute basic and advanced simulation functions with FEA software such as ANSYS, COMSOL and CST with a clear understanding of the underlying principles and concepts.
  2. Conversant in 3D CAD software for model creation, preparation and editing, preferably proficient with SolidWorks.
  3. Generate, read, and interpret 2D drawings, create a complete manufacturing drawing package from 3D models. Drawings are neat, legible, and conform to standard drawing practices (internal and external).
  4. Effectively use SolidWorks PDM for design collaboration and file management.
  5. Correlate analysis results with real world tests to validate analysis accuracy.
  6. Track, manage and prioritize analysis queue of projects.
  7. Proven understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM, DFA, FMEA).
  8. Write reports and explain complicated concepts to cross-functional groups.
  9. Lead cross-functional teams as required, especially in pursuit of simulation driven optimization efforts.
  10. Project Management: scope, schedule, and budget definition, control, and resolution as an individual contributor.
  11. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics, 5-7 years' experience; Master's degree with 3 years' experience.
  2. 3-5 years' experience of various analysis software (FEA software), i.e. ANSYS, COMSOL, CST, Fluent, NASTRAN, or other engineering analysis packages
  3. Experience with high voltage and electrical simulations and systems preferred.

Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.

  1. Execution of Advanced ANSYS analysis (FEA Software)'structural, vibrational, thermal, and/or Multi-physics.
  2. Advanced SolidWorks skill set.
  3. Proficient with the core Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power-point, Project, etc.).
  4. Understanding of material science for analysis, including high purity metals and vacuum grade alloys, thin films and single crystals
